LYMPHEDEMA
Lymphedema
Swelling in one or both of the arms or legs in relation to lymphedema can be caused by abnormal development in the lymphatic system or when an individual goes through removal of, or experiences damage to, the lymph nodes in conjunction with cancer treatment. Individuals who experience lymphedema are at increased risk for infection in the connective tissues and in the skin layers.
This type of wound care requires special attention and expertise, and the severity of the wound will depend on how deep it penetrates the skin’s layers. You may feel as if the best treatment begins at home, but our vast medical knowledge and compassionate care is the best option in these types of circumstances.
