Hammertoes

When a patient experiences hammertoe, there may also be the appearance of corns, calluses, and discomfort in the feet. The condition causes the toe to curl or bend downward instead of pointing forward and may be aggravated by arthritis or when one wears shoes that are poorly-fitting, causing the tendons to pull the toe into a contraction resembling a hammer.

 

Hammertoe may be present at birth or may develop over time and is oftentimes treatable.
