Podiatrist Alexandra M. Andes, DPM, FACFAS, CWS, is a partner at Advanced Foot, Ankle, & Wound Specialists, PA. She joined the team in 2011 and provides a wide range of podiatry services to patients in Tamarac and Coral Springs, Florida.
Dr. Andes was born in Livingston, New Jersey, and raised in Indialantic, Florida. After graduation from Melbourne High School, she attended the University of Central Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in micro and molecular biology. Dr. Andes then earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Barry University School of Graduate Sciences in 2008. She completed her three-year foot and ankle surgical residency training at Northwest Medical Center in Margate, Florida. Her comprehensive training included trauma such as metatarsal fractures and ankle fractures, as well as elective surgery such as bunion and hammertoe correction. Her training also included wound care, and she became wound care certified (CWS) by the American Board of Wound Management in October 2011.
A fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Dr. Andes is also a diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and American Board of Wound Management. She has many professional publications to her name.
Dr. Andes lives in Plantation, Florida, with her husband, Dr. Nathan Vela, and their two sons, Daniel and Austin. She enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.
